
R. Kirk Miller
Eastern Federal Area VP
R. Kirk Miller was elected to serve as Eastern Federal Area Vice at IFPTE’s 55th Convention. In addition to his vice president duties, Miller also serves as President of IFPTE Local 4 in Portsmouth, NH.
Miller began his career at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1967 as an apprentice pipefitter, joining the Pipefitters union at that time. He has been a member of Local 4 for 10 years serving the membership as a steward shortly after joining. Miller was elected as 3rd Vice President in 2001 and then to 1st Vice President in 2004. He was appointed president of the Local 4 in 2006 after the Local’s former president, Terry Eleftherion, retired.
Working with other Local officers, Miller has/continues to meet with Members of Congress and local community leaders in Maine and New Hampshire, fought successfully to keep Portsmouth Naval Shipyard open during the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) initiative of 2005, and serves as IFPTE’s representative at Navy Partnership monthly meetings.
