Andrew Müller
Canadian Area VP
A technical engineer in the tritium removal facility of Darlington Nuclear Generating Station in Ontario, Canada, Andrew Müller has been employed by Ontario Hydro and Ontario Power Generation since 1988.
A graduate of the University of Waterloo in chemical engineering and management science, he has worked in central thermal services, nuclear safety, heavy water production, nuclear waste, and tritium removal at the Bruce (Kincardine, Ontario) and Darlington sites, as well as at Ontario Hydro’s head office.
He was elected a Society delegate in 1993, and since then has participated in many joint employer/union activities, negotiated over a dozen agreements with Society employers, and chaired many Society committees. He became President in 2002.
As events in the electricity industry have unfolded since passage of the Electricity Competition Act in 1998, Mr. Müller has been in the forefront, ensuring that Society-represented employees continue to be treated fairly, while at the same time promoting successful, professional, cooperative relationships between the Society and its several employers.
In 2002-3, Mr. Müller was a leading figure in the Society’s decision to affiliate with the International Federation of Technical and Professional Engineers, headquartered in Silver Spring, Maryland. At IFPTE’s 54th Constitutional Convention, Mr. Müller was elected to serve as Canadian Area Vice President. |
