Allan Yamaguchi brings strong union leadership to Local 17, where he has served the Local as its president since 1996.

Juggling his work schedule with his union activism, Yamaguchi quickly rose through the ranks from his first job at the City of Seattle as a Meter Reader to his current position as a Supervising Electric Service Representative. Throughout his career, Yamaguchi has been active in Local 17’s affairs and policy making.

He was elected as a trustee and has served on various committees, elections, and contract negotiations. He was a key player in the revision of the Local 17 Constitution. He has served several terms as the Seattle Chapter Secretary/Treasurer and also as Vice-President.

Allan believes his activism helps keep Local 17 moving forward in a positive direction of being a member-driven, progressive union, which continues its track record of supporting its members.

Yamaguchi is married to Liz Abeyta Yamaguchi. He was elected to IFPTE’s Executive Council at the 54th Convention in 2003.
