A.    WELFARE/RECREATION – I.F.P.T.E. LOCAL 3, ST. PATRICK’S DAY BEEF & BEER FUNDRAISER – ALL FUNDS RAISED FROM THIS FUNDRAISER WILL BENEFIT THE IFPTE  ACTION FUND

REPRESENTATIVE MATTHEW BIGGS.                                                   

 

$20.00  MEMBER’S, NON-MEMBER’S AND GUEST’S ARE ALL INVITED.

 

B.     THE ACCRETION OF DUTY SURVEYS- AFTER REVIEWING THE SURVEYS, OUR FINAL COUNT WAS 40 SURVEYS THAT WILL BE REFFERED BACK TO THE CODE FOR INVESTIGATION.  NAVSSES WILL LOOK INTO THE DENIAL OF OPPORTUNITY TO COMPETE FOR PROMOTIONS.

 

C.    UNION CONTRACT. – QUESTION FROM BODY – HOW MANY ARTICLES DID OUR PAST CONTRACT HAVE?  TWEVLE, AND THESE DIDN’T COVER THE BASIS OF WHAT WE NEEDED AS A BARGAINING UNIT. 

 

 

 

THE UNION IS LOOKING INTO STRENGHTENING ITS CONTRACT BY INCLUDING SUCH ISSUES AS:

 

1.      PARKING

2.      ADMIN LEAVE

3.      REAL PAY COVERAGE FOR OUT AT SEA

A.     TO KNOW WHAT YOU’RE ACCOMODATIONS ARE BEFORE GETTING ON THE SHIP.

B.     HAZARDOUS PAY FOR REFUELING AT SEA.

4.      PARS

5.      ON SPOT AWARDS

6.      HIGH OR LOW

          

                         WE HAVE REVIEWED SOME OF THE OTHER CONTRACTS FOR

                         CONTRACT LANUAGE AND ISSUES THAT WE ALL FACE.  WE

                         ARE HOPING TO WRAP CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS UP BY

                          DECEMBER 2002.  IF YOU HAVE ANY CONTRIBUTION PLEASE

                          CONTACT US.

 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

 

            LABOR-MANAGEMENT ISSUES:

            GRIEVANCES:  THE HIGH/LOW SYSTEM – MANAGEMENT CAME

BACK AND SAID THIS SYSTEM DOESN’T EXIST AND SHOULDN’T BE USED.

            FLSA ISSUE:  A 45-DAY EXTENTION WAS REQUESTED BY

            MANAGEMENT.  THE PRESIDENT AND BODY DISCUSSED AT LENGTH

            THE FLSA ISSUE.  THE PRESIDENT MADE IT VERY CLEAR THAT WE

             ARE WORKING AS HARD AS WE CAN FOR ALL OUR MEMBERS.  WE

             MUST AT ALL TIMES WORK WITHIN THE LAW.  THE UNION IS USING

             THE SAME LAWER THAT GOT THE FOUR SHIPYARDS THEIR MONIES.

             THE PRESIDENT SAID ANY DUES PAYING MEMBER COULD READ

             OVER ANY PAPER WORK GOVERNING THE FLSA MATTER, HOWEVER

              HE COULDN’T GIVE THEM COPIES.

 

NEXT GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING: 20 MARCH 2002 @ 4PM
