IFPTE: PDF Help

1. Go to Acrobat-Adobe Site to Download
Click here to get the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

2. Follow the 1, 2, 3 Instructions
Step #1: Simply select your computer platform (Windows, Macintosh etc.) and the language required. Step #2: You will be asked to give your name and e-mail address. Step #3: Click download.

3. Install the Reader
MAC USERS -- The downloaded file should automatically expand into your Reader folder. Inside is the application and other files. Also downloads the Web Browser plug-in called "PDF Viewer" (see below*)

WINDOWS USERS -- Take note of the file name that is downloaded. If it doesn't expand on its own, find the file on your computer, double click to begin installation. It will install a Reader folder, inside is the application and other files. (See below to setup the Reader to work in your browser window!*)

You can now download pdfs from the web, then open them in the Acrobat Reader. Or read on for how to view the downloaded pdf files within your browser....

4. Making the Reader work in your browser window
Acrobat Reader also has a companion plug-in utility that allows to you view the downloaded pdf file within your browser window -- so you don't even have to leave Explorer or Netscape!

WINDOWS--Internet Explorer Users
You will need to download an extra file to make the Reader work within your browser. Click here to go to the "Acrobat Control for Active X" page. Read info, when ready to download, click on red download at top. More technical info.

WINDOWS--Netscape Navigator Users
Click here to download the plug-in. Put the file "nppdf32.dll" in the subfolder Plug-ins within your Netscape Folder/Program. More technical info.

MAC--Internet Explorer Users
Click here to download the plug-in. Put the file "PDF Viewer" in the subfolder Plug-ins within your Explorer Folder. More technical info.

MAC--Netscape Navigator Users
Click here to download the plug-in. Put the file "PDF Viewer" in the subfolder Plug-ins within your Navigator Folder. More technical info.
