Affiliations
IFPTE values establishing strategic alliances with other unions in order to build both parties organizational capacity, and further enhance and develop the relationship between organized professionals. If you are a leader of a union and are interested in possible affiliation with IFPTE, please contact us at organizing@ifpte.org.
Benefits of Affiliation:
- Autonomy & Asset Protection
- Affiliates retain their right to select officers, employ staff, control their assets, establish a dues structure, and manage their own operations and business.
- Community
- Professionals form unions in order to gain bargaining strength by working together in solidarity. Similarly, when unions of professionals join together, they increase their capacity, resources and knowledge to resolve issues and implemented solutions.
- Voting Rights
- Affiliates of IFPTE are designated as IFPTE Locals, and have all the same rights and benefits of any IFPTE Local, such as sending delegates to the IFPTE Conventions where they can vote/run for IFPTE offices and submit/vote resolutions on the convention floor.
- Legislative Access
- IFPTE has a long history working with members of the United States Congress and Canada’s Members of Parliament on behalf of our affiliates regarding issues, not ideology or partisan politics.
- Professional Staff Assistance
- IFPTE can offer professional advice regarding legal, legislative, research and communication issues.
- Training
- IFPTE can offer training and leadership programs.
- Membership Recruitment and Mobilization
- IFPTE can provide assistance regarding internal and external organizing drives, as well as issue-focused campaigns that concern your members.
