IFPTE Celebrates Black History Month

Laverne Applegate, Member — IFPTE Local 400

A native Rhode Islander, sixth of seven children I grew up in Warwick RI. I now live in Providence for the last 24 years.

Graduate from Toll Gate High School, Warwick, RI, an Associate's degree in Accounting from Community College of Rhode Island, and my Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Bryant University.

A pledging member of All Nations Church of God In Christ for the past 3 yrs.

Worked 18 yrs at RIDMV the latter 12 as the Branch Office Supervisor of RI Mall Express office.

The next 6 yrs work I worked at RIDOT in the Management Services as an Auditor.

Maintained several part time positions throughout my adult life to meet my financial goals.

I now volunteer at Federal Hill House doing taxes for low income taxpayers.

I am dedicated to the improvement of the future for herself and my community. I am currently a proud member of IFPTE Local 400 Executive Board to which I serve as Treasurer.

In my down time I enjoy spending time with my nephews and my nieces.
