Arendt Visits Hill Offices in Support of IFPTE Army Corps Represented Members

Mike Arendt, who is a steward at IFPTE Local 561, was in Washington this week to meet with key Hill offices regarding IFPTEs top transportation infrastructure priorities as they relate to locks and dams across the United States.

In addition to advocating for transportation infrastructure resources toward the modernization and new build of locks and dams, Arendt also discussed a longstanding legislative priority of IFPTE dealing with the designation of the operations and maintenance of locks and dams as inherently governmental.

Among the lawmakers/offices Arendt met with was House Transportation Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA), and the offices of Reps. Andre Carson (D-IN), Eddie Bernice-Johnson (D-TX) and Don Young (R-AL). The Congress and the President have said that Transportation infrastructure is a priority in the current congress.
