Arendt on Cap Hill as Part of Waterways Council Legislative Week

Mike Arendt, IFPTE Local 561 steward, working in tandem with IFPTE legislative staff regarding IFPTE represented United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) employee interests in Congress, took part this week in conjunction with the Waterways Council’s annual meeting in Washington.

Arendt, who was accompanied on the Hill by IFPTE legislative staff, visited several key lawmakers and their office staff regarding issues impacting the USACE and their workforce, particularly those related to the protection of IFPTE represented jobs directly related to the operations and maintenance at the nation’s locks and dams, and the survival of those inner waterways infrastructures. Arendt visited with several lawmakers, including Senate Appropriation Chairman Thad Cochran (R- MS) and the office of impacting Senator Ben Cardin, who has direct oversight of Corps policy.

IFPTE also met with the bipartisan staff of the House Transportation Committee, which oversees USACE policy. Many thanks to IFPTE Local 561 for supporting IFPTE’s USACE legislative policy efforts!
