As House and Senate Armed Services Committees Took Action on NDAA Legislation, Local 12 Took to Capitol Hill in Support of Federal Workers

This week IFPTE Local 12 representatives visited with Washington State lawmakers to discuss the Local’s concerns facing their members at the Bremerton Naval Shipyard, as well as IFPTE federal members overall.

The group, accompanied on the Hill by IFPTE legislative staff, included John King, Christy Wulf, Darci Shapley and John Bernstein, visited lawmakers in the offices of Senators Murray and Cantwell, and Representatives Kilmer, Heck, McMorris-Rogers, Larsen, Adam Smith, Jayapal, and DelBene.

Among the issues discussed were preserving and protecting official time, rejecting Trump Administration recommended cuts to federal employee pensions and benefits, and protecting inherently governmental work of Local 12 members at the Bremerton Shipyard.

Thanks Local 12 for carrying IFPTE’s torch on the Hill this week.
