ESC/Local 20 Visits Capitol Hill to Urge Support for the EPA

ESC/IFPTE Local 20 member, Destinee Cooper, and Local 20 staff member, Jonathan Wright, were in Washington last week to meet with Bay Area lawmakers regarding the Localís concerns with proposed steep cuts to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) funding and programs, including the elimination of work performed by Local 20 represented EPA workers.

Cooper and Wright, who were accompanied on the Hill by IFPTE legislative staff, also warned lawmakers to oppose the draconian cuts to federal employee pay, benefits and pensions that were proposed as a part of President Trumpís Fiscal Year 2019 (FY19) budget proposal.

Among the offices visited were Representatives Mark DeSauliner, Mike Thompson, John Garamendi, Jerry McNerney, Nancy Pelosi, and Barbara Lee, and Senators Dianne Feinstein & Kamala Harris.
