Healthcare is Central at Workplace Actions for IFPTE Local 20 and Local 21

Hundreds of members from ESC/IFPTE Local 20 and IFPTE Local 21 participated in separate workplace actions with their colleagues and a coalition of other unions in support of healthcare, pay and outsourcing.

ESC/IFPTE Local 20
Over 200 members of the Kaiser Coalition of Unions, including Clinical Lab Scientists from Engineers and Scientists of California/IFPTE Local 20 marched to Kaiser Permanente headquarters in Oakland California to demand that Kaiser return to the negotiation table, and bargain fairly over issues such as pay, healthcare benefits, and outsourcing.

With $3.8 BILLION in profits last year, and a CEO with an annual salary of $10 million a year, Kaiser Permanente has the obligation to stop the attacks on healthcare and job security and pay the workers who provide excellent patient care and make the hospitals run.


IFPTE Local 21
On Thursday, IFPTE Local 21 members picketed along side eight other unions in support of healthcare justice in Contra Costa County.

The Union Coalition maintains that they need a real system fix that will pull Contra Costa out of last place among Bay Area public employers and make them more competitive when it comes to healthcare premium costs for employees.

Local 21 members work in a multitude of classifications such as Legal Assistants, Planners, Environmental Analysts, and Safety Services Specialist just to name a few. These are extremely important jobs and Local members provide a valuable service to Contra Costa County. Ensuring affordable access to healthcare is important to maintaining these skilled professionals.
