IFPTE, AALJs Applaud the Cantwell/Collins ALJ Competitive Service Restoration Act

The Cantwell/Collins bill, which serves as the Senate companion to HR 2429 introduced by Rep. Cummings on May 1st, seeks to overturn Executive Order 13843 that would politicize the hiring of federal Administrative Law Judges (ALJs).

Association of Administrative Law Judges (AALJ/IFPTE Judicial Council 1) President, Judge Melissa McIntosh, applauded the bill, commenting that the legislation, “preserves the independence of ALJs by restoring the rigorous and competitive selection of judges based solely on merit.”
