IFPTE EC Holds Spring Meeting, Focuses on Legislative and Judiciary Matters That Could Impact Membership Levels

The fifteen members of IFPTE’s Executive Council held their Spring 2017 meeting in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Among the items discussed were the impact of an expected future case before the Supreme Court involving agency fee payers in the public sector.

Representing tens of thousands of public sector workers, IFPTE leaders agreed to implement a union-wide campaign to proactively mitigate any potential negative impact to IFPTE’s membership. Among the other items discussed at the meeting were the work of the IFPTE Veterans Committee to defeat Congressional legislative attacks on workers at the Veterans Administration (VA) that will result in reduced services to Veterans; defeating Bill C-27 which aims to erode the reliability of Canadian defined pension funds; the Union’s legislative action plan in responding to the renegotiation of NAFTA and other damaging trade deals; and preparing for a transportation infrastructure bill in Congress that could benefit all sectors of IFPTE’s membership.

The Council also agreed to hold IFPTE’s 2018 Convention at Harrah’s Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
