WASHINGTON, DC – International Federation of Professional & Technical Engineers (IFPTE) President Paul Shearon and Secretary-Treasurer/Legislative Director Matt Biggs provided the following joint statement on behalf of the union in endorsing Dr. Kim Schrier for the United States House of Representatives:

“IFPTE is pleased to support Dr. Schrier, as she seeks to represent the constituents of Washington’s 8th Congressional District, a district that includes Boeing’s Auburn plant, where upwards of 6,000 Boeing workers are employed, many of whom are represented by SPEEA/IFPTE Local 2001. After speaking with Dr. Schrier, and after her talks directly with SPEEA members and leaders, it is clear to IFPTE that she is, by far, the best candidate for this seat. She is a staunch advocate for collective bargaining rights for all workers, strongly stands side-by-side with workers and their unions, will push policies in Washington that bolster our domestic aerospace industry, and will be a consistent and strong vote of support for our members while in Congress. She will also be a staunch supporter of IFPTE’s federal sector members, particularly the thousands who are employed in the Puget Sound area.

“IFPTE is proud to join other unions, such as the IAMAW, the IUPAT and the Washington State Labor Council in endorsing Dr. Schrier.”

IFPTE is a labor union representing upwards of 90,000 workers in Canada and the United States, including nearly 30,000 workers employed by The Boeing Company, the United States Navy, SSA, NOAA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Washington State.
