IFPTE Members Directly Impacted by California Wildfires... Your Help is Needed

Members of ESC/IFPTE Local 20 and IFPTE Local 21 have been impacted by the ferocious wildfires currently burning throughout northern California.

In response to this catastrophe, IFPTE Local 20 has created the ESC 20 North Bay Fire Relief Fund to help our sisters and brothers living in the North Bay area who have been horrifically impacted by the wildfires.

This member-to-member donation fund will first focus on the IFPTE Local 20union families who have lost their homes. The Local already knows of several members facing this kind of devastation. IFPTE members are also encouraged to visit IFPTE Local 20's North Bay Wildfire Relief page to stay updated on the Local's various relief efforts.

Please donate to the ESC Local 20 North Bay Fire Relief Fund.  Any amount is appreciated.  *Please note that these donations are personal gifts and are not tax-deductible contributions to a registered charity.

IFPTE Local 21 has a small number of members and a Local staffer who live in the affected cities. Fortunately, their members' homes have sustained minimal impact from the wildfires. They will continue to monitor the situation and will keep us updated.

Any IFPTE Locals with members living in the areas affected by the wildfires are urged to contact the Federation office.  Our hearts go out to those who have been affected by this tragedy.

In Solidarity,

Joel Foster,
Associate Distribution Engineer at Pacific Gas and Electric Company,
ESC/IFPTE Local 20 Secretary-Treasurer

"Quite a sobering day in Napa. Worked the Atlas Peak area. Saw 3-400 destroyed homes. Mostly huge custom homes. They were either unscathed or completely gone. No in between. Some houses that remained were surrounded by destroyed homes only yards away. Many homes had 2-3 melted cars in garage and driveways which makes you wonder if they got out... Some of the fires are converging and they’re now evacuating Calistoga. This photo is where they gave up on the garden hoses. So sad."
