IFPTE Participates in UDWC Legislative Committee Meeting

IFPTE legislative staff chaired a meeting this week of the United DoD Workers Coalition (UDWC) legislative committee, focusing on labor’s work on Capitol Hill involving federal employee issues.

More than 15 unions participated in the call, which focused on congressional bills currently before Congress. The bills include attacks on official time (HR 1364, HR 1461, HR 1293); legislation impacting Veterans Administration workers (HR 1259); reviewing the recently passed Fiscal Year 2017 (FY17) Omnibus spending measure; and the next FY18 round of spending bills and how they impact federal workers.

The UDWC has been advocating for federal workers on Capitol Hill since 2003 when over thirty unions banded together to defeat the union busting National Security Personnel System (NSPS).
