IFPTE Veterans Committee Hosts Its Fall 2018 Meeting

This week the IFPTE Veterans Committee held its Fall meeting. Among the highlights of the meeting was an update from AFL-CIO Union Veterans Council (UVC) Executive Director, Will Attig, who outlined the UVCís priorities in the coming year, including expanding more UVC labor chapters at the state and local levels, and the UVCís work to provide assistance to Veteranís retirement homes throughout the nation.

The meeting also focused on IFPTE Veterans legislative agenda for the upcoming 116th Congress, which is due to convene in January, 2019. SPEEA/IFPTE Local 2001 Veterans Committee member, Mike Shea, gave a presentation on the latest work of the SPEEA Veterans Committee, including Local 2001ís ongoing work in solidarity with Veterans Administration workers.

The meeting concluded with an announcement detailing an opportunity for IFPTE Veteranís Committee members to participate in a wreath laying ceremony on February 2nd, 2019 at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetery.
