IFPTE honors Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr

On Monday, January 15th America will honor civil rights icon, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. IFPTE is proud to recognize Dr. King and his legacy, as he led the fight against government sanctioned bigotry, and for equality for all people in the United States and around the world. His work also included his unwavering support for working people and their unions, as he correctly viewed labor rights as civil rights. Dr. King was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, TN, where he was supporting Memphis sanitation workers struggle to have a union, telling the workers that, “You are reminding, not only Memphis, but you are reminding the nation that it is a crime for people to live in this rich nation and receive starvation wages.” To view the AFSCME Martin Luther King Documentary 'I Am A Man' Memphis Sanitation Strike click here.
