Judicial Council 1 - AALJ Visits Capitol Hill

This week, Association of Administrative Law Judges (AALJ) President Judge Marilyn Zahm, Vice President Judge Linda Stagno, and AALJ member Judge Tim Mangrum were accompanied by IFPTE legislative staff to Capitol Hill meetings with the offices of key Congressional lawmakers to inform them on the unionís views on streamlining the Social Security disability adjudicatory process while preserving claimant due process rights. The group provided staff and lawmakers of the unionís views on five key recommendations for reducing the disability backlog while saving taxpayer resources. Among the offices that the union met with were Senators Chuck Schumer (NY), Heidi Heitkamp (ND) and Patty Murray (WA).
