McBride Testifies Before New Jersey Legislature

This week IFPTE Local 196 President, Sean McBride, accepted an invitation to testify before the New Jersey General Assembly’s Transportation Committee in support of legislation to put in place strong worker protections for public employees working on the State’s highways.

Testifying in support of Bill A4588, McBride informed lawmakers that his members working along New Jersey’s highways have been put in dangerous working conditions, including working at night without proper lighting, and in the rain and snow, even to the point where one member was nearly killed. Following his testimony, McBride commented that “after the swift passage of S1246 in the Senate, we are pleased to see that this much-needed legislation continues to move through the legislature with the unanimous support of all the lawmakers. We thank our elected officials, particularly the sponsors of the legislation, for supporting this bill, and look forward to Governor Murphy signing it into law in the very near future.” The text of the bill can be found here.
