Orvella Attends DoL's Inaugural WIAC Meeting

SPEEA (IFPTE Local 2001) Legislative Director, Chelsea Orvella, attended the first meeting of the Department of Labor's newly created Workforce Information Advisory Council (WIAC) in Washington, DC.

Among the focus of the two-day meeting was discussions on how to best evaluate, improve, manage and coordinate national and state workforce and labor market information systems, including programs to produce employment-related statistics and state and local workforce and labor market information.

Orvella is the American labor movementís representative on the WIAC, which was created by Congress as a part of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014. The WIAC is tasked with advising the Secretary of Labor on, among other things, the management of federal, state and local programs to produce workforce statistics and labor market information.
