SCMMA Local 222 Receives Official Charter at CCL Meeting

On Tuesday, December 10, 2019, the Saskatoon Civic Middle Management (SCMMA) Local 222 received its official charter as the newest affiliate to the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers.

To show their support for their newest member, the Canadian Council of Locals comprising SUP/IFPTE Local 160, IFPTE Local 164, WAPSO/IFPTE Local 162, and TEAM/IFPTE Local 161, held their bi-annual CCL meetings in Saskatoon. Aside from participating in their first CCL meeting, SCMMA Local 222 hosted a wine and cheese meet and greet with its members and the CCL affiliates.

The evening included welcoming remarks from IFPTE Canadian Area VP, Misty Hughes-Newman, and SCMMA Local 222 president, Jackie Morley. The evening also allowed for the unveiling of SCMMA Local 222’s new logo, designed by IFPTE staff, Chris Langford.

The journey for SCMMA’s affiliation to IFPTE has been a long journey and special credit is due to former IFPTE organizer Dee Gillies. The groundwork for the affiliation was laid long ago and without her help with organizing and bargaining, this would not have been possible.

SCMMA Local 222 is proud to join IFPTE and looks forward to many years of incredible collaboration.
