SF Labor Council, Senator Harris Honor Retiring L21 Executive Director Bob Muscat

California Senator Kamala Harris joined the San Francisco AFL-CIO this week to honor the career of retiring IFPTE Local 21 Executive Director Bob Muscat.

Muscat, who has worked for IFPTE Local 21 for over 11 years, is retiring after more than five decades of service to the labor movement. While at Local 21, Muscat was one of IFPTE's most effective leaders. He was integral in the tremendous growth of Local 21’s membership, which grew from 7,000 in 2007 to 11,000 today, including broadening the Local’s reach into Contra Costa County and Sunnyvale. In his retirement letter Muscat informed Local 21’s members that, “The future of our union is very bright.”

IFPTE Secretary-Treasurer Paul Shearon paid tribute to Muscat saying, “IFPTE congratulates and thanks Bob for his 50-plus years of growing the labor movement, particularly here at IFPTE. We wish he and his family all the best in his retirement.”
