SPEEA/IFPTE Local 2001 Labor Icon Stan Sorscher Retires

Longtime labor activist and SPEEA staffer Stan Sorscher retired last month after a nearly 20-year career at SPEEA. Stan joined SPEEA's staff after working for the Boeing Company and being represented by SPEEA for 20 years.

IFPTE President Paul Shearon, who was a colleague and fellow SPEEA member of Stan’s, said “Stan was not only an indispensable member of SPEEA and the staff, he is one of the American labor movement’s foremost experts on our national industrial policies, including trade. While we wish Stan a happy, fruitful and peaceful retirement, we are also pleased that he has agreed to find time during retirement to serve as a policy advisor to IFPTE on several key issues impacting IFPTE members, and working families overall. IFPTE is certainly fortunate that we will be able to continue to rely on Stan’s counsel and expertise moving forward.”

IFPTE Secretary-Treasurer/Legislative Director Matt Biggs, who has worked along side Stan for nearly 20 years, also commented: “Stan has not only been an invaluable representative of SPEEA, he has also been an incredibly important and valuable part of IFPTE’s work over many years. His contributions and guidance to IFPTE in the legislative arena, particularly related to our nation’s trade, immigration and overall industrial manufacturing policies, has been immeasurable. With SPEEA’s full support, he has never hesitated over the years to step up to assist IFPTE in our legislative endeavors, contributions that has paid off for tens of thousands of IFPTE represented members.”
