Thousands Rally to Support DACA and TPS

On Wednesday, December 6th, more than a thousand activists gathered in Senate park to support passage of the Dream Act of 2017. Union and community activists from California, Washington, Wisconsin, New York, Florida and many more states came to support Dreamers.

More than a million men and women have been living and working in the United States for years under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Temporary Protected Status (TPS). DACA and TPS are crucial programs that provide permits to working men and women, allowing them to raise families, stand up for their rights on the job, start new businesses and become productive citizens.

DACA and TPS holders are members of our families, our unions, and our communities who have made positive contributions to our society for many years. Alarmingly, their status is now at risk as anti-immigrant groups pressure the Trump Administration to end both of these important programs.
The Dream Act of 2017 would not only preserve the work authorization of DACA holders, but would also afford them a long overdue pathway to citizenship.
