Unions, Including IFPTE, Express Concern as Another House Bill Aims to Pre-empt Public Sector Taxing Authority, Endanger State and Local Jobs

This week IFPTE joined with eleven other labor unions sending a letter to House members expressing opposition to HR 2887, a bill that would prevent state and Local governments from collecting sales tax owed from remote sales of goods and block some tax collections currently taking place, thereby reducing revenue used to provide public services provided by State and Local government workers.

The letter informs House lawmakers that, “The potential for state and local governments to suffer significantly increased revenues losses could lead to cuts in vital public services and harm families struggling to make ends meet.” Read the full letter below.
