WSN Conference Call Tackles Bullying in the Workplace

The IFPTE Women’s Solidarity Network held their semi-annual educational conference call series this past week. Over 50 members registered to participate in the teleconference to learn about bullying and harassment in the workplace.

Each year, incidents of hostile workplace events increase. Featured speaker, Janet Gerhard from the Florida House Experience provided an overview of bullying and harassment; identifying what actions are considered bullying and the appropriate response. The call also highlighted work IFPTE Locals are engaged in on this front. Speakers from Local 1921 and Local 160 shared their experience representing members on the issue as well as highlighting educational initiatives to combat the problem.

Thank you to the following individuals and Locals who contributed to the success of the conference call:

Misty Hughes-Newman, President, IFPTE Local 161 & IFPTE Canadian Area Vice President
Sarah Cantatore, LGBT Delegate, IFPTE Local 1921
Mary Byberg, Labour Relations Staff Representative, IFPTE Local 160
Tracy Miller, Unit Director at Hydro One & WSN Co-Chair, IFPTE Local 160

The IFPTE WSN Women & Unions International Conference Call Series will return in October 2019!
