What You Can Do to Help the Public Sector Workers in Wisconsin
IFPTE has heard from many of you who wish to personally help the Wisconsin public sector workers. After conferring with colleagues around the labor movement, particularly those who work or are members of directly impacted unions, IFPTE has come up with the following options for helping out:
- Leave comments on the We Are One AFL-CIO Facebook Page
- Stop Attacks on Working Families: petition urging state legislators to stop attacks on workers-all signatures will be delivered to state legislators
- Email Governor Walker Today: write a personal message through MoveOn.org
- Stand with Wisconsin: sign Working America’s petition in solidarity with the workers of Wisconsin
- Check Out Great Video and Audio Clips from Wisconsin Events
- Update your Facebook/Twitter Profile Pictures with the AFL-CIO 'We Are One' logo.
- You can call Ian’s Pizza, which is right near the Capitol, to order pizzas to have delivered to protesters. As of the weekend, this was the only business they were doing (and had donations as far as Egypt). Their phone # is: (608) 257-9248. If you want to deliver elsewhere (i.e. to a specific Local union office), you can call Glass Nickel Pizza at: (608) 245-0880.
- There is an on-line fund for donations as well – you can go to www.helpdefendwisconsin.com and donate to either rally organizing supplies OR a fund to clean up the Capitol building.
