AALJ and SSA Reach Agreement on Judges' Re-Entry to Offices

AALJ/IFPTE Judicial Council 1 President, Judge Som Ramrup, informed her members this week of a significant win for AALJ members. In a January 17th letter to AALJ members that also included a remembrance of Martin Luther King, Jr., Day and a reminder of the link between labor rights and civil rights, Judge Ramrup provided details of the negotiation’s win. She informed members that, “the AALJ and the Agency have reached an agreement as to judges’ re-entry to the physical worksite…”, and, “ensures both access to the judicial system and safety to judges and the public we serve.”

International President Matt Biggs and Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson jointly responded, calling the deal, “a significant win for AALJ’s membership that could be used as an example to other unions in the federal sector negotiating return to work procedures that put the safety of workers first while also maintaining quality taxpayer services. IFPTE applauds Judge Ramrup and her negotiations team for this victory.”
