Atlantic Area VP/Local 196 President Sean McBride Meets with Mississippi AFL-CIO Leadership

Brother Sean McBride, President of IFPTE Local 196 and IFPTE Atlantic Area Vice President, paid a visit last week to the Mississippi to meet with the state’s Labor Federation President Robert Shaffer.  McBride discussed a range of issues with President Shaffer.

McBride, whose career in union leadership is laser focused on both serving the members and organizing the unorganized, commented, “as the proud president of Local 196, as well as serving on the IFPTE Executive Council and the New Jersey State AFL-CIO, I am well aware that the quickest and most effective path to the middle class is through organizing and being a part of a union.  This is especially true in’ right-to-work for less’ states such as Mississippi, where workers struggle to be afforded a decent wage and benefits.  As such, I was excited to meet with Brother Shafer in Mississippi and discuss IFPTE’s membership and areas and employers there in the State that could be potential organizing targets for our great Federation.  I thank Brother Shafer for his time and look forward to coordinating with President Biggs and Secretary-Treasurer Henson in fostering a productive and long-lasting partnership for IFPTE in the State.”
