IFPTE Endorses Patrick Schmidt for Congress

Schmidt is running to represent Kansas’ 2nd Congressional District

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, DC – This week the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) announced its support of Patrick Schmidt, who is running for the United States Congress in Kansas.   In doing so, IFPTE’s executive officers issued the following statements.

IFPTE President Matthew Biggs:

“After careful consideration and meeting Patrick Schmidt, we have little doubt that he will be a strong supporter for Kansas’ working families if elected to Congress.  His background and his credentials speak for themselves.   Both of his parents were public school teachers, and Patrick himself served our country as a Navy intelligence officer.  Given that public service transcends generations within his family, it is no surprise that Patrick Schmidt also understands that, in order for our society to prosper, working families must prosper.  This is exactly why he is such a strong supporter of the ability of workers to form and join unions and collectively bargain.  IFPTE believes he will carry this purpose of public service and support for collective bargaining to Congress, which is why we are proud to lend him our full backing.”

IFPTE Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson:

“Patrick Schmidt comes from a background of service, and he continues to show his passion for serving his nation and his community as a Navy Reserve officer and as a candidate to represent Kansans in Congress.  He understands first-hand the struggles that working families face, and that with strong unions come a vibrant middle class.  IFPTE believes he is the right candidate for Kansas and we are pleased to support him.”
