IFPTE Hosts 2022 Spring Executive Council Meeting

This week members of the IFPTE Executive Council met in Las Vegas to discuss the business of the Federation. The meeting, which was held both in person and virtually, focused on the internal business of the International including:

  • Reviewing the Fiscal Year 2022 budget and approving the Fiscal Year 2023 budget;

  • Current organizing and legislative endeavors; and

  • Efforts to reorganize the National Association of Immigration Judges (NAIJ/IFPTE Judicial Council 2).

    Executive Council members also discussed issues impacting the larger North American labor movement, including bringing a pro-worker majority to the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA), and calling on the Trudeau Government to install publicly provided prescription drug coverage for all Canadians.

    President Matt Biggs commented that, “after over two years of virtual executive council meetings, it certainly was refreshing to see most of the members in person this week, and others on Zoom. We certainly had a productive meeting that addressed all of our important business, including approving our Fiscal Year 2023 budget. We thank the Executive Council for their service to IFPTE, and for their guidance and support of the International.”

    Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson also commented that, “IFPTE is lucky to have such dedicated executive council members to help us the International chart our course moving forward. The Solidarity that everyone provided is the definition of our great union.”

    The Fall executive Council Meeting is scheduled for mid-November.
