IFPTE Letter Urges Congressional Representatives to Pass Government Funding Immediately

As House Republicans continue putting politics above people and fail to agree on a path to funding the federal government, IFPTE has once again urged Congress to embrace bipartisan efforts in the Senate to fund the government and avert a federal government shutdown.

In a letter this week to lawmakers, IFPTE’s executive officers urged Congress, “to work in a bipartisan manner to pass a CR to extend current spending levels and avoid this absurd threat of a government shutdown in the days ahead.”

Meanwhile, IFPTE also proactively asked the federal government’s financial institution oversight agencies requesting that, “regulatory institutions issue a statement and guidance to encourage financial institutions to work with consumers who may be affected by a potential federal government shutdown in the weeks ahead.”

TAKE ACTION

TELL YOU CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVE AND SENATORS TO STOP THE SHUTDOWN.

Congress needs to act urgently and pass a short-term government spending bill, called a continuing resolution (or CR), by September 30 to avoid a federal government shutdown on October 1, 2023.

If Congress fails to pass a bill to fund the government, the resulting government shutdown will be felt in every Congressional district and across the U.S. economy.
