IFPTE Locals and International Leadership Attend Nuclear Energy Assembly Conference 

This week representatives and leaders from the Society of United Professionals (SUP/IFPTE Local 160), Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC/IFPTE Local 20), and the Engineering Association (EA/IFPTE Local 1937) attended the 2022 Nuclear Energy Assembly in Washington, DC. 

The conference, which was sponsored by the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) focused heavily on the climate crisis facing the world and the need for greater public investment in clear, zero carbon, and affordable nuclear capacity. 

IFPTE’s delegation at the three-day conference included Local 160 President Michelle Johnston, Local 160 External Relations Director Mike Belmore, Local 20 President John Mader, Local 20 VP Joe Anastasio, Local 1937’s board member Mike Dinger, IFPTE Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson, and IFPTE President Matt Biggs. 

While in Washington, D.C., the group also met with leadership and staff of the Department for Professional Employees (DPE, AFL-CIO) and IFPTE Local 70, the NonProfit Employees Union (NPEU/IFPTE Local 70).
