IFPTE Congratulates Brother Larry Griffin on His Appointment to the San Francisco Recreation and Park Commission

Larry Griffin, former IFPTE Western Area Vice President, was sworn in last week by San Francisco Mayor London Breed to serve on the city’s Recreation and Park Commission. 

Griffin who served for many years in several leadership roles at Local 21 before retiring last year, has also served his community over many years, including on the Board of Directors of the Booker T. Washington Community Service Center. 

Upon swearing in Brother Griffin and his colleague, Vanita Louie, on the commission, Mayor Breed commented that, “Vanita and Larry will continue advocating on behalf of their communities while guiding one of the best and most loved parks departments in the country.” 

In his first comments as the new Commissioner, Griffin also commented that, “It is an honor to be appointed to this incredible body that is entrusted with keeping our parks on par with the world’s best.”
