LEAP News: Local 21 Helps Build Union Power

The Executive Committee of IFPTE Local 21 recently authorized sending financial support to the International's Political Action Committee, The Legislative Education Action Program Political Action Committee (LEAP-PAC).  This move will enable IFPTE to support more pro-labor, pro-worker candidates in this year's election.

"We salute Local 21's leadership and their demonstration of solidarity with LEAP's mission to help elect candidates who fight for our core values," said International President Matt Biggs.  "Local 21's decision couldn't have been better timed, as we are continuing to build back LEAP after seeing PAC membership drop as a result of the pandemic"

Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson added, "LEAP is really the most effective way for IFPTE members to speak with a collective and strong voice in the legislative arena.  Along with our member mobilization and education efforts, IFPTE's PAC program ensures that we have the ability to fight for the interests of our members on every front."

IFPTE Local 21 President Gus Vallejo spoke about the Executive Committee's decision, noting, "The more we work together, from the Local Union to the International, the better equipped we are to advocate for our members.  Local 21 members don't just talk about solidarity, we put it into action."
