"Our National Nightmare Is Over"

IFPTE responds to Biden victory for President

Washington, DC – The executive officers of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) offered the following reactions to the election of Joe Biden to be the 46th President of the United States:

President Paul Shearon:
“IFPTE congratulates Vice President Biden and Senator Harris for their hard-fought victory for President and Vice President. Our union was proud to endorse this pro-worker, pro-union ticket back in May, to unseat what can only be described as the most anti-union President in history. IFPTE has little doubt that President-Elect Biden will be the most pro-union President we have ever had, which is critically important given that he and his administration will have to reverse countless executive orders and other policies promulgated by the Trump Administration against American workers and their unions. He will restore calm to our nation and provide a true plan to combat the deadly coronavirus that has taken such a toll on tens of millions of working families. IFPTE looks forward to hitting the ground running and working with the Biden Administration on behalf of not only IFPTE’s diverse membership but workers overall.”

Secretary-Treasurer/Legislative Director Matt Biggs:
“Our national nightmare is over! While we applaud the President- and Vice President-Elect, we are also relieved that the Trump Administration’s relentless attacks on workers and unions will finally be coming to an end. In President-Elect Biden we will not only have a President that will rebuild our government and our nation, but he will also reverse the Trump Administration’s draconian and radical executive orders intended to politicize the federal civil service, destroy labor rights for workers, and do away with unions.”
