Social Security Administration's Union Busting Taken to New Heights

This week the Social Security Administration (SSA) moved to implement the FLRA’s union busting policy dealing with the collection of union dues, while concurrently attempting to illegally and unilaterally impose a partial collective bargaining agreement onto the Association of Administrative Law Judges (AALJ/IFPTE Judicial Council 1).

In response, AALJ President, Judge Melissa McIntosh, sent letters to SSA challenging their illegal actions, writing that, “It is unfortunate that the Social Security Administration continues to devote extensive time and resources to eliminating this small union of judges. This does not serve the American public, especially in the face of a pandemic.”
