WAPSO AGM

The Winnipeg Association of Public Service Officers (WAPSO/IFPTE Local 162) held their annual general meeting this week. The meeting was held virtually providing Local 162 members with updates on the union’s activities over the last year, which included a summary of grievances and arbitrations, training and WAPSO board development, financial audit and proposed budget. IFPTE President Matt Biggs and Secretary Treasurer Gay Henson were in attendance to bring greetings and reported on the federation’s recent work and areas of priority. President Biggs touched on the upcoming IFPTE Manitoba legislative conference in January 2023, acknowledging WAPSO’s involvement and leadership.

The agenda also included elections of several board positions, with Ashleigh Campbell acclaimed as the new Secretary/Treasurer of the Local. Looking ahead, WAPSO is interested in exploring growth opportunities and strengthening its connection with the broader labour movement through its involvement with the Manitoba Federation of Labour and Canadian Labour Congress.
