House Passes Bill to Cut Taxes for Billionaires While Stripping 11 million Off Food Assistance and 13.7 million Off Healthcare Coverage
Despite IFPTE’s letter to all House lawmakers early Thursday morning outlining the historic immorality included in the Trump-backed House Republican budget reconciliation bill, the House of Representatives passed the bill by one vote at 6:55 am Thursday.
While committing to continue to fight against these cuts in the Senate, IFPTE’s executive officers responded to the House’s action, saying that, “if allowed to stand in its current form, this legislation will harm working families across America, decimate state and local government budgets, lead to the closure of hospitals across the nation, put in danger the ability of utilities like TVA to pursue cutting edge clean energy technologies like SMRs, and incentive corporations to move jobs overseas.”
