IFPTE Delegates Elected at 23rd Biennial CLUW Convention

(l-r) - Dina Holmes (Local 194 1st VP), Lissette Frazier (Local 194), Paula Rios (Local 194 President), Karen Bellamy Lewis (IFPTE Representative), Lindsay Davey (Local 194 2nd VP), Catherine Owen (SPEEA/Local 2001), Raquel Cundiff (SPEEA/Local 2001).

The Coalition of Labor Union Women (CLUW) gathered for its 23rd Biennial Convention in San Diego, California, from November 9-11, 2025. This year's theme, “Women Around the World Unite,” brought together over 400 passionate women who came to celebrate and engage with the important work of CLUW.

During the convention, five new Executive Officers were elected to steer the organization forward. Among them was IFPTE’s own Karen Bellamy Lewis, who served on the National Officers Council as a Vice President for eight years, representing IFPTE. The Vice President position she vacated will now be held by Lindsay Davey, a member of Local 194 IFPTE from New Jersey, who serves as its 2nd Vice President representing the NJ Turnpike Authority.  Catherine Owen, also from IFPTE, was elected to be a delegate on the National Executive Board. She is a member of SPEEA based in Seattle, Washington, joining Dina Holmes, another IFPTE member, who will serve as an alternate on CLUW’s National Executive Board. Dina is the 1st Vice President of Local 194 IFPTE, representing the NJ Turnpike Authority.

In addition to the elections, the convention featured a variety of workshops. One noteworthy session was led by Jeeves Muhil from IFPTE Local 70, who presented “International Garment Workers Fight for Justice.” This workshop highlighted the important work being done over the last two years by Global Labor Justice (GLJ) in solidarity with international garment workers to shed light on issues such as low wages, unsafe working conditions, and inadequate safety measures.

Congratulations to CLUW for a successful convention, and to all IFPTE members who attended and were elected to serve CLUW members.
