IFPTE Locals Throughout New Jersey Join State Labor Movement in Opposing Governor Murphy’s 37% Healthcare Cost Hike – Urge Legislature to Return to Trenton

IFPTE and the New Jersey AFL-CIO were among the more than a dozen unions representing well over 140,000 workers in New Jersey calling on state lawmakers to return to the state capitol in Trenton and pass legislation mitigating Governor Murphy’s proposed 37% hike in healthcare costs for state workers.

IFPTE Local 196 President/Atlantic Area Vice President, Sean McBride, provided the following comments regarding IFPTE’s involvement, saying that, “Led by IFPTE Locals 194, 195, and 196, IFPTE’s public sector membership is joining the larger New Jersey labor movement in calling on state lawmakers to return to Trenton immediately to pass legislation providing state and local public sector workers across our state from this healthcare affordability crisis.”

Local 195 Trustee Chair/Atlantic Area Vice President, Steve Pinto, also weighed-in, saying that, “New Jersey public sector workers and their families live paycheck to paycheck and simply can't absorb such a steep and unprecedented increase in healthcare costs, which is why we are calling on the state legislature to step-in now and pass legislation that corrects this crisis.”
