Ontario Leads the G7 by Building First Small Modular Reactor

Last week, the Society of United Professionals-IFPTE Local 160 joined the Ontario government as they announced its approval of the OPG's plan to start construction on the first of four small modular reactors in Darlington, as part of the Darlington New Nuclear Project. The SMRs are critical to meeting Ontario's predicted electricity needs. Together, they will provide enough electricity to power 1.2 million homes and are expected to create up to 18,000 jobs in Canada. Read more here.
