Sherrod Brown Earns IFPTE’s Endorsement for U.S. Senate

WASHINGTON, DC – The executive officers of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers proudly announced the union’s endorsement of Sherrod Brown to represent the state of Ohio by serving once more in the U.S. Senate. Sen. Brown was a Senator from 2007 to 2024 and held a 100% lifetime score on the AFL-CIO’s legislative scorecard.

IFPTE President Matthew Biggs:
“Sherrod Brown is a true friend of workers and unions, and a champion for workers’ rights. During his time in Congress, he never backed down from fighting for the working people of Ohio and the U.S., and he’s never forgotten that, as a lawmaker, his job is to improve the lives of working families and retirees. Right now, the extremist policies coming out of the White House are harming working Americans’ livelihoods, their union and workplace rights, and their path to the middle class. We need Sherrod Brown’s leadership in the Senate, and our union looks forward to helping him win his campaign. He has our back, and IFPTE has his.”

IFPTE Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson:
“IFPTE fully supports Senator Brown’s campaign to return to the U.S. Senate. He’s a principled and effective lawmaker who has stood by IFPTE members on so many priority issues. Whether it’s standing strong against pro-corporate trade agreements that disadvantage American manufacturing, protecting and strengthening Social Security and Medicare, stopping employer abuse of the H-1B and other high-skill guestworker programs, or championing union rights and good jobs, Sherrod Brown is on our side. He was key in the successful effort to pass the Social Security Fairness Act and repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision and Government Pension Offset in 2024, and he’s been a longtime cosponsor of the Federal Adjustment of Income Rates (FAIR) Act, and has always supported our federal sector members at NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, the Defense Logistics Agency in Columbus, and federal workers throughout the nation. He’s shown us that he acts on his pro-worker values, and for that he’s earned our endorsement.”

IFPTE is a labor union representing upwards of 90,000 workers in the federal, public, and private sectors.
