SPEEA Members Have Elected a New President, John Dimas.

John Dimas replaces Ryan Rule, who had served two terms as SPEEA president and under the union’s governing documents was unable to seek a third consecutive term.

Dimas is a product life cycle engineer working at the Boeing Co. in Everett, Wash., where he does technical integration work for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. He has been an active member of SPEEA as a Council Representative and committee member, and he had been serving as one of SPEEA’s Northwest regional vice presidents before running for president.

Dimas also is one of three SPEEA representatives on the IFPTE Executive Council.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology from Northern Illinois University, a master’s degree in digital audience strategy from Arizona State University and is completing a certificate in project management from Edmonds College.

In addition to a new president, SPEEA members also re-elected Dan Nowlin as the union’s treasurer, and Rule ran unopposed for the office of SPEEA secretary.

The newly elected officers will assume their roles on March 27.

SPEEA, the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace, is IFPTE Local 2001. It represents more than 19,000 engineers, technical workers, scientists and pilots working for Boeing and Spirit AeroSystems in Washington, Kansas, California, Florida and Oregon.
