IFPTE Endorses Senator Ed Markey for Senate

Senator Markey understands that clean energy production and good union jobs can go hand in hand.

WASHINGTON, DC – The International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), representing 90,000 workers across North America, including in Massachusetts, is proud to endorse Senator Ed Markey to reelection to the United States Senate.

IFPTE’s executive officers commented on the endorsement:

President Matt Biggs: “IFPTE is proud to stand with Ed Markey in his bid to continue representing the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the United States Senate.  During his time in public service, Senator Markey has distinguished himself as a leader on a wide range of issues, from workers’ rights to national security.  However, his environmental stewardship has defined his leadership and created a legacy that will serve future generations.  As a union that represents scientists who perform work in the fields of climate and atmospheric research, IFPTE possesses a special appreciation for Senator Markey’s support for programs that benefit our understanding of the global environment.”

Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson: “IFPTE commends Senator Ed Markey for his balanced approach to energy policies.  Our union represents tens of thousands of members throughout North America who work in the clean energy economy.  Senator Markey understands what our members prove every day—clean energy production and good union jobs can go hand in hand.  From the family car to factories that employ thousands of workers, Senator Markey fights every day for cleaner, more affordable and more reliable power generation that will enable the United States to stay competitive in the global economy.”

After previously serving in the House for eighteen terms and first being elected to Congress’ upper chamber in 2013, Senator Markey is seeking his third term in the United States Senate.
