IFPTE Honors Memorial Day 2022 — A Message from President Biggs and Secretary-Treasurer Henson

As the United States celebrates Memorial Day on Monday and throughout the weekend, the officers and staff here at IFPTE pass along our deepest appreciation to our nation’s military personnel, our Veterans, and most especially those that have given the ultimate sacrifice in support of our Democracy.  This is especially cogent this year as our Democracy continues to face the most serious challenges of our time, both domestically and internationally.

IFPTE is proud to be a leading union in the North American labor movement, and a proud member of the AFL-CIO and the Canadian Labour Congress.  All of us at IFPTE work each day to protect the rights of workers everywhere, to organize the unorganized and fight for fair pay, health benefits, pensions, respect and a voice on the job, and an overall better way of life for working people.  Our members, thousands of whom are Veterans themselves, and thousands of others who work to directly support our military, are patriotic and unapologetic in our support of our Democracy.   Make no mistake about it, a strong and vibrant labor movement is essential to a strong and vibrant Democracy.

As many of us take this time to spend valuable time with our families, enjoy cookouts, and ring in the start of Summer, let us all also remember and honor those who have given their lives in defense of our nation.  The Labor Movement is forever grateful to them.

Happy Memorial Day.

In Solidarity,

Matt Biggs
