“Another disappointing loss of skilled telecommunications jobs in Manitoba…” – TEAM/Local 161 Decries Continued Bell Canada Layoffs
Bell Canada continues to add to the huge number of job reductions they have undertaken since their acquisition of Manitoba Telecom Services (MTS), recently announcing yet another 19 unionized telecommunications jobs represented by TEAM/IFPTE Local 161. Since the MTS takeover in 2017, TEAM/Local 161’s membership has drastically declined from around 900 members to 350 members. TEAM/Local 161 President, Dave Eyjolfson, called the continuing downsizing, “another disappointing loss of skilled telecommunications jobs in Manitoba…" while adding that, “we're continuing to see the erosion of good Canadian telecommunications jobs that are essential to our province's economy and digital infrastructure."
