Happy Independence Day from IFPTE
IFPTE wishes all members and their families throughout the United States a festive, fun, rewarding, and safe 4th of July. This year, we will celebrate our nation’s 249th year of independence, and in doing so, IFPTE also celebrates the many gains for workers brought about by our great Labor Movement.
Let us not forget that IFPTE was founded in 1918 when federal workers decided to band together and form a Union in Norfolk, Virginia, even though there did not exist a law at that time that granted federal workers collective bargaining rights. Today, IFPTE is as strong as we have ever been. Sadly however our collective bargaining rights are under attack like no other time in our history.
Let’s celebrate our independence this July 4th with our families, friends, and Union siblings, while also understanding that we will continue to fight for what is enshrined in our Constitution – OUR right to come together, form Unions, and fight collectively for better working conditions, job security and compensation. Happy 4th!
